Specialisms

An overview of the specialisms we offer

Focusing Issues, including ADHD

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) can be a valuable support for individuals with ADHD by promoting mindfulness and acceptance, helping them become more aware of their thoughts, emotions, and physical sensations. ACT also emphasizes aligning actions with personal values, providing a sense of purpose and direction. Through realistic goal-setting and breaking tasks into manageable steps, ACT helps individuals build effective strategies and increase self-regulation.

As a third-wave cognitive behavioral therapy, ACT enhances one’s relationship with internal experiences, making it a useful complement to other ADHD treatments.

Depression and Anxiety Support

My experience as a High Intensity Practitioner for the IAPT NHS service in City & Hackney, London, supporting individuals experiencing moderate to high levels of anxiety and depression has given me a deep understanding of the complexities of anxiety and depression, creating a compassionate and supportive environment where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to make positive changes in their lives.

In this role, I provide tailored therapeutic interventions, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and other talking therapies, guiding clients from initial assessment and goal setting through ongoing therapy and progress evaluations.

Affirmative Counselling

Focuses on creating a supportive and empowering environment for LGBTQ+ individuals. Affirmative work is based on understanding and validating clients’ identities, experiences, and challenges in a world that can often be unwelcoming. I strive to help clients explore their authentic selves, address issues related to identity and stigma and navigate relationships and societal pressures. My goal is to foster a safe space where clients can openly discuss their experiences, develop resilience, and cultivate self-acceptance, ultimately supporting their journey toward mental well-being and personal fulfilment.

Relationships and Sexuality

Sexuality and intimacy lie at the heart of our well-being, shaping how we connect with ourselves and others. In my work, I prioritize creating a safe, open space where you can explore and express your feelings, desires, and challenges related to intimacy and connection. Together, we will address issues such as communication barriers, sexual identity, and relationship dynamics to foster deeper understanding and mutual respect.

Using evidence-based strategies and a compassionate, non-judgmental approach, I guide clients in navigating the complexities of relationships and sexuality. My goal is to help you enhance emotional intimacy, embrace healthier expressions of your sexuality, and experience more fulfilling connections—both with yourself and with others.

Expats

Understanding the unique challenges they face while living away from their home countries. This experience can often lead to feelings of isolation, cultural dislocation, and identity shifts. I create a supportive space where expats can openly explore their experiences, navigate the complexities of adapting to new cultures, and process any feelings of homesickness or loss. By employing culturally sensitive approaches and drawing on my knowledge of the expatriate experience, I help clients develop coping strategies, enhance their emotional resilience, and foster a sense of belonging in their new environments.

Self-esteem and Self-confidence Issues

Recognizing how deeply these aspects influence overall well-being and personal fulfilment. In our sessions, I create a nurturing and non-judgmental environment where clients can explore the underlying beliefs and experiences that contribute to their self-doubt and negative self-image. Through evidence-based techniques, such Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and offering confidential space to talk, I support clients in challenging limiting thoughts, setting realistic goals, and celebrating their achievements. My aim is to empower individuals to build a stronger sense of self-worth, develop resilience, and cultivate the confidence to pursue their aspirations, ultimately leading to a more fulfilling and authentic life.

Prostate Cancer

As a prostate cancer survivor, I bring a deeply personal understanding to counselling individuals facing similar diagnoses and the emotional challenges that accompany them. Diagnosis can evoke a range of feelings, including fear, anxiety, and uncertainty about the future. In our sessions, I create a compassionate and empathetic space where clients can openly share their experiences, concerns, and questions. Drawing on my own journey, I help clients navigate the complexities of treatment, recovery, and the impact of cancer on relationships and self-identity. My goal is to provide support and guidance, empowering individuals to find strength in their journey, process their emotions, and develop resilience as they move forward in life after cancer.

Diversity and Intersectionality

My experience as a counsellor in London has given me a deep understanding of cultural diversity and intersectionality. Working in this vibrant, multicultural city, I encounter clients from various backgrounds, each with unique perspectives that enrich the therapeutic process. I recognize how different aspects of identity—such as race, gender, sexuality, and socioeconomic status—interact and shape individual experiences.

Creating an inclusive and culturally sensitive environment is essential to my practice. By adopting an intersectional approach, I help clients explore how systemic factors and cultural narratives influence their mental health. This understanding allows for tailored interventions that foster resilience and empowerment, supporting individuals in embracing their multifaceted identities as they navigate their unique challenges.
