What to Expect: Our Journey Together
1. Initial Consultation
In our first meeting, we will discuss what brings you to therapy, your hopes for the process, and any questions you might have about my approach. This initial consultation is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of whether we feel comfortable and connected with each other. If we decide to move forward, we will then set up our first full session.
2. Clinical Assessment
Our first few sessions together will focus on gathering a comprehensive understanding of who you are and what you are experiencing. This includes discussing aspects of your life history, significant experiences, and current challenges. Together, we will begin to identify patterns, strengths, and areas of growth. My aim here is to understand your unique story in depth to tailor our sessions in a way that best supports your goals.
3. The Counselling Sessions
As we continue, we will work through what is happening in your life today—your “here and now”—while also exploring past experiences that shape who you are today. Together, we will look at how past and present intersect, creating space for insight, healing, and resilience-building. This balance between present-focused work and gentle exploration of past experiences allows us to address current challenges and understand them within the broader context of your life story.
4. Ending
It is the final phase where the therapist and client wrap up their work together. It is important because it lets both reflect on what’s been achieved, and it helps the client prepare to manage on their own. A good ending reinforces the client’s progress, gives a sense of closure, and empowers them to use what they’ve learned in everyday life.
Sessions will occur every week, at the same day and time. This will be excluding holidays for which I will provide prior notice. The pace is yours to set, and your comfort is a priority, and the length of therapy is guided by you and what feels right for your own journey.
